Site design:

Welcome!

For those interested in improving and understanding themselves, God, other individuals, and the nature of things by following the method specified in Spinoza's Ethics.

This Web Site is designed to attract the individual who aspires for something more in life than the ordinary things we normally pursue—such as ambition, glory, money, sex, career, dependent relationships, etc.

My name is Lewis Almeida. I live in the Southwestern area of Los Angeles, in the city of San Pedro, California. I was a student of Gregory Grover, who was my teacher for 22 years. He was the leader of the Spinoza and Gurdjieff Group of West Los Angeles.

My interest is to share what I have learned and continue to learn by working and studying with other individuals on the revolutionary ideas written by Spinoza, Gurdjieff and Ouspensky-and how their works can improve and change all facets of our lives.

This work I'm endeavoring to implement is a self-study process within a group environment, which is designed to help us all learn about ourselves. Its purpose is to help us see areas in our nature that we need to improve so that we can have the strength of mind to handle difficult situations that confront us and plague us in our daily lives.

Gurdjieff was very clear when he said that a group consisting of other individuals who are pursing similar goals is necessary, and that a teacher who knows the way is paramount for us to achieve the goals we have set.

The goal would be to join with others in search of something that would enable us to develop inner mental and emotional strength. We must do this to become self-confident, develop self-approval, become conscious of ourselves, become consciously aware of other individuals, and to have a consciousness and a union with God. This is the path to true happiness and fulfillment. And this goal of ours would be of such a character that it would be permanent within us. It would be impossible for anyone to take it away or destroy it.

Studying the ideas of Spinoza and Gurdjieff, in relationship with our nature, is the direction in which I want to take you. If you would like more information about Spinoza's or Ouspenki's book, or about the group I propose, click here to email me
